Our story

Hi, I’m Jake. I adopted Sasha in June 2020. She had such a profound effect on my life that I created Power Pooches—a dog walking and training service specialising in helping dogs with anxiety issues.

During COVID lockdown I was working from home, lived two hours from my family, and loneliness affected me deeply. I had my name down to foster a dog. Sasha came for one week—and within 24 hours I was hooked. I adopted her.

I knew she had separation anxiety. After a few difficult walks, I also noticed a fear of dogs. Before Sasha, the only dog I’d had was when I was 14. Most of my life had been without dogs—I’d worked in entertainment, fitness and events—so I didn’t know how to help her.

I made a commitment: I hired a trainer, paid for a behaviourist, read books, invested in equipment, researched, remade the garden, changed my schedule, and kept going. As we slowly got results, I felt a calling to help other dogs and guardians develop a better relationship—just like the one Sasha and I were creating.

I became a behaviourist, trainer and educator advocating for all dogs.

Power Pooches doesn’t train—we teach.
